Music for Life has already established 14 Music for Life Centres in South Africa, Uganda and Kenya.
The specific goals of this programme are to stimulate children and meet their emotional and spiritual needs. Evidence of our success comes with seeing the transformation of the children we work with from being quiet, shy and withdrawn, to confi dent and happy individuals. It is our long term aim to bring hope and healing to Africa’s most vulnerable children.
One such vulnerable child, a little girl named Zinhle, was living in a remote village in South Africa, close to the border with Mozambique, suffering abuse at the hands of her stepmother.
After joining the MFL Centre programme, the fi eld staff immediately identified Zinhle’s withdrawn nature and inability to integrate with her peers. Gradually, after spending more time within the MFL Centre, Zinhle gained confi dence, familial support and now lives with a caring guardian.
Sipho is another child in one of our MFL Centres. He was born to a poor family with 4 other siblings. All 4 of his brothers and sisters and his mother have died and he now lives with an alcoholic father.
When asked what his name was, he replied, “Sipho, going to die soon.” He says his father told him he will end up dead like the rest of his family.
But Sipho’s life is beginning to change like Zenhle – they are both starting to experience hope and joy in their young lives as a result of being part of a MFL Centre.
